With NMDP, Good Goes a Long Way

Meet Walter

In 2023, Walter was diagnosed with Hurler syndrome just ten days after birth through a newborn screening program. At only three months old, he underwent a blood stem cell transplant from an unrelated donor found through the NMDP Registry, since no one in his family was a suitable match.

The journey hasn’t been easy. Walter still requires weekly home infusions and regular check-ups, but his recovery has been remarkable. Now, nearly two years post-transplant, he’s thriving—running around, attending daycare part-time and bringing joy to everyone around him.

Your support helps treat patients like Walter and helps families focus on their loved one’s health and healing.
