In partnership with the Minnesota Wild, we are the sponsor of the Minnesota Wild Charity of the Month Program. Throughout the NHL season, we feature a new charity each month. This months selected charity is Pinky Swear!
The Original Pinky Swear Promise
Mitch was nine years old when he was diagnosed with bone cancer. When he was in the hospital in December, he overheard the family next to him having a discussion that there would not be enough money for Christmas that year. Mitch looked at his dad and said, “This isn’t fair. How much money do I have in the bank?” Steve helped Mitch into his wheelchair and took him to the bank. Mitch withdrew all the money he had in his savings account and put it in envelopes for the kids on the pediatric oncology floor at the hospital. He signed each envelope, “Love Mitch. XOXO” Before nine-year-old Mitch Chepokas passed away, he made a pinky swear with his dad to continue to help children with cancer and their families. Since his death in 2003, the Pinky Swear community has carried on that promise by supporting kids with cancer and their families with housing, food, and transportation costs. By supporting families with everyday expenses, they can focus on what matters most – their child.

Pinky Swear Programs
The Pinky Swear Orange Envelope, Pinky Swear All-Star Fund, and Pinky Swear Pantries provide support for families during different times throughout the cancer journey. The goal is the same: provide financial support for housing, food, and transportation to families battling childhood cancer.

Orange Envelope
The Orange Envelope Program offers financial support to families facing the difficult journey of a childhood cancer diagnosis or relapse. Within six months of a child’s diagnosis, the program provides timely assistance, including a $200 gift card, heartfelt letters of encouragement, and a warm welcome to the Pinky Swear community.
All-Star Fund
All-Star Fund
The All-Star Fund provides financial support for everyday expenses to families navigating the challenging journey of childhood cancer. This fund provides assistance for rent/mortgage, utility payments, groceries, gas, and car payments, ensuring that families can focus on what truly matters – their child.

Pinky Swear Pantry
Pinky Swear Pantries provide on-site hospital food pantries stocked with snacks, grab-and-go meals, and a variety of packaged treats, allowing families to stay close to their child and ease the financial burden of food costs. Whether it’s a single-day visit or an extended stay, these pantries ensure that families have access to food without added worries.
